Firstly, between summer school eating up a single hour out of every day, the impending ten-page essay due the day I get back from vacation, and the fact that I've been steadily working to backup all my files because my laptop is going in for repairs, I've taken a break from working on the game. I'm by no means willing to give up on it, so I'll certainly be back to it soon. I might make one more major update before summer ends, but after that it'll be a few weeks into getting prepared for the last year before I'll be working on it at home again. Gotta buckle down and make a good first impression for the teachers, y'know?
Anyways, I've been drawing, sketching, and doodling, and I accidentally drew something that might turn into a short little game. I'd been focusing on said game before I deleted Flash CS4 from my laptop, and I'm having an artist draw all the characters and scenery, so I really don't have much to show for it except for the original sketch that sparked the idea.
The game itself is coming along nicely. It's been a while since I worked on a platformer that actually required me to change the character's image(jumping, falling, walking, etc) and I think I've developed a nice little system to make that work efficiently. Only time will tell, and right now I'm waiting on my animator to draw up some sprites and a demo level. As soon as I get a good substitute for the black rectangle I'm currently using, I'll try to post a worthwhile demo.
Billy the Hemophilic Vampire: You are Billy. You are a vampire. You cannot stop bleeding. Night by night, you must work quietly and efficiently to stay alive, swooping down on innocent children to replenish your blood supply and avoiding the local townsfolk and their pointy farming utensils. Should you require it, the Blood Bank will be more than happy to lend you a hand. Or a gauze pad. And that's it, just live night by night and survive as long

Europe was amazing!! It was incredibly fun and will definitely be the highlight of my summer. The whole experience of being in a foreign country was just awesome, and seeing the famous landmarks and works of art was great. It was also very fun just hanging out with the group, making new friends, and coming up with about a million inside jokes.
Gamewise, I'm not that far. I'd hoped to have made more progress on the inventory engine than I did, and it's proving to be quite tricky. I'm not sure how I'm going to redesign it, but the current system needs to go.
After the inventory engine, I'll finally start adding a little fight to this game. Michelle helped me come up with a great weapon system that discourages use of the more powerful weapons except in difficult situations, so we'll see how that works. The doors also need to be updated, but it'll be tricky getting them just right.
SOUND! This game needs sound. If anyone wants to take a crack at voice acting or maybe writing some background music, I'd be much obliged. Napzter is in charge of epic music, but go ahead and make me a sample.
That is all for now, new demo coming soon.

Finally, a feature-rich version of my game is completed! Right now, I'm almost done with the cut-scene/text engine. I just need to add a few advanced features, but they should be pretty straightforward. I've already started focusing on the item engine, along with their fighting abilities. Though I haven't worked on the fight engine itself, I'll probably have at least started on it by the next release.
EUROPE! I'm going to Europe in less than three days! That is all.
